Qualifications for Loan Modifications
President Obama’s Home Affordable Modification program launched on March 4, 2009, has re-introduced loan modifications as a means of turning your upside down home equity right side up by reducing your monthly payments to 31% of your income. This is a program for you to be able to keep your home and afford the monthly payments. The following are some of the qualifications for loan modifications:
- You must own your home
- You must be able to verify that this is your primary residence
- Your home cannot be vacant or condemned.
- You must demonstrate that you have encountered financial hardship
- You must show your lender that you will be able to pay your new lower mortgage payments
- If you are in bankruptcy, you may still qualify.
- If currently in litigation over your mortgage loan, you may still qualify and keep your legal rights.
- Self-employed home owners can qualify.
- Even if you are not currently in default on your mortgage payments, but you are facing a financial crisis that will result in your inability to pay, you may qualify.
There are more qualifications that might apply to you depending on your current situation, all of which will be reviewed in your free consultation. Even if you are not in financial hardship there might be other options availible to you such as a short pay refinance.
